Closely Related Skilled Occupation
To claim skilled employment, your work must have been in your nominated skilled occupation or a closely related one.
You can only claim skilled employment if:
- In the 10 years before you were invited to apply, you worked at least 20 hours per week in paid employment (adjustments may be made for shift work or fly-in-fly-out arrangements) in your nominated occupation or a closely related occupation.
- Closely related occupations must be:
- In the same ANZSCO Unit Group,
- Consistent with a career advancement pathway, or
- Determined by an assessing authority to be closely related to your nominated occupation.
- Either the authority conducting your skills assessment specifies in the assessment that your employment is skilled (use the date stated in your assessment as your employment start date in your Expression of Interest), or your employment experience meets the skilled employment standards set by your assessing authority on their website.
